JIGANTICS is an arts based company run by James (Jig) Cochrane producing giant illuminated Figures and artworks for high profile events, carnivals, schools and communities.
PROFILE
Projects have taken place worldwide with many high profile clients lighting up events with a unique style of incredible illuminated figures and installations. Work began in 1989 within international community based arts organizations focusing on the engagement of fractured communities using the arts to encourage positive change and heal community spirit. Projects began in the refugee camps and towns in Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia and Kosovo though Rise Phoenix during the Balkan wars. Later into West Bank refugee camps with Tyger Tyger, through kids homes schools and orphanages in the slums of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, into rescue centres for street kids in Rio. Projects have also taken place in safe schools for children with learning difficulties in the Peruvian highlands, through the refugee camps of tsunami hit Sri Lanka with Fun for life and later through Tamil Nadu. More recently into Cambodia with the Giant Puppet project and into Zambia with www.thebookbus.org. Projects abroad have been running along side UK work generating carnivals for schools within communities supported by local businesses and councils.
Over the past few years JIGANTICS has been involved in high profile commissions for major events and International functions. Producing Giant sculptures, street puppets, hanging illuminated figures and spectacular lanterns. This work helps supports community work and JIGANTIC projects abroad.
